Vampire Facial and Vampire Facelift Q & A

Alex Ferro, MD

What is a Vampire Facial®?

The Vampire Facial® is a treatment using Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to enhance the skin of the face and leave a more youthful appearance. It involves taking extractions of blood from under the patient’s arm, and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from red and white blood cells. Dr. Ferro then injects the concentration of plasma into the patient’s face. Because the plasma is now full of platelets, it’s rich with growth factors that bring about a more youthful appearance. Sometimes the vampire facial is combined with dermal fillers to further plump up problem areas, such as under the eye.

How does the Vampire Facelift® work?

The Vampire Facelift® is a customized facial procedure using a combination of hyaluronic acid fillers and platelet rich plasma (PRP). Initially, a Juvederm® filler is used to plump up serious existing facial lines, which creates a more youthful appearance. Following that, the PRP is injected in specific locations around the face to kickstart the body’s natural renewal process. Areas treated by the Vampire Facelift include:

  • Lines at corners of the mouth
  • Dynamic wrinkles on the nose
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Frown lines
  • Smile lines
  • Plumping of the cheeks

Dr. Ferro can complete the entire Vampire Facelift procedure within the span of an hour, and the overall effects can last for over a year.

How do I know if I’m a candidate for the Vampire Facelift?

Because the Vampire Facelift is a minimally invasive procedure, almost everyone is a candidate. If you’ve had dramatic weight loss and thus, hold a large amount of loose facial skin, the procedure may not work for you. In this instance, a traditional facelift would be a better option. To help you decide, contact Dr. Alex Ferro at New Image Medical Aesthetics & Wellness in Miami, Florida to discuss your options.

What is the difference between the Vampire Facelift or Facial?

The difference between the Vampire Facelift and the Vampire Facial is that the facelift doesn’t use fillers. The focus of the Vampire Facial is to augment the benefits of the micro-needling procedure by applying PRP (platelet-rich plasma) throughout the micro needling process. The combination of micro-needling with application of PRP (platelet-rich plasma) stimulates the collagen and improves the skin.
